We had a wonderful trip to the gravel pit at Fox Science Preserve this past Monday. Huge thanks to the many parents who joined us on this trip, and those who were able to share photos, some of which are included below. We were fortunate to also have terrific naturalists leading our groups and teaching us about the rocks we discovered. We continued our rock study throughout the week with reflective writing, creative writing and closer rock observations. We ended the week today with a very interesting discussion and impromptu experiment on pumice (in contrast to shale and granite) and its ability to float!

We created a "Telling Brain Frame" in preparation for writing reflections on our field trip. |

A current favorite among several students! |
