A Fond Farewell

Yesterday we had a fun end of year outdoor celebration, complete with push pops, a game of limbo, and a sack race.  Huge thanks to Laura Greashaber and Anna Mignery for putting together the party, and for being such fantastic room parents this year.  Thank you to ALL of you parents for your support, kind words, thoughtful gifts, and most of all, for sharing your children with me.  It has been a wonderful year in Room 123 and I wish all of you a beautiful summer.

I would like to also extend goodbye wishes to the following students who will be moving this summer:  Anahita will be moving to Boston, Jessie's family is relocating to China for three years, Maho and Mayu are both returning to Japan, and Christina is moving back home to Germany.
Today we had an opportunity to share special memories, goodbyes and best wishes to our five dear friends who will be leaving Michigan.  We promised to all keep in touch, so please help in doing that by emailing photos and updates when you can!

Again, my thanks to all of you for helping to make this a terrific year for these amazing children.  In addition to the photos from yesterday's outdoor celebration, I've included some outtakes from the year.  Most of them were probably not included in the blog as many were from recess, but I had to share them with you!

We are the Forest

Yesterday we were visited by brothers Nate and Nick Ayers (Nick is also a noon hour supervisor here at Angell) to learn about the importance of forests and our role in helping to take care of them.  We also heard beautiful music played by Nick on instruments from around the world.  Nate and Nick also brought in a real live biodiverse native forest of trees, and we visited our Outdoor Learning Area to observe some of our own plants growing on the Angell School grounds.

Field Day

A wonderful time was had by all on Field Day! Thank you to all the parents (including Najean's mom, Grieta's mom, Elsa's mom and Levi's mom) who came out to run stations and/or visit.

Michigan Radio!

Today we had the wonderful opportunity to visit the station at Michigan Radio / WUOM.  The lovely Jennifer Guerra took us on a tour of the station, and we got to meet a few reporters who taught us about their specific roles at Michigan Radio. We learned a lot about the ins and outs of how a radio station operates, and also got a chance on the mics in the studio!  Huge thanks to Charlotte's mom, Lisa Nevett, for joining us on this trip!
