Fox Preserve Gravel Pit

We had a wonderful time at the Gravel Pit on Tuesday.  Big thanks to Mr. Selcer, Mr. Burgess, and Mrs. Camacho for joining us as chaperones, and for taking photos as well!

We prepared for our rock collecting by reading the beautifully illustrated: 
"Everybody Needs a Rock."

Stripes give us clues about what category of rock they fall into:


The land where the gravel pit is was a forest before it was dug up, and is growing back well.  But the children were even more fascinated to learn that long ago, 
where we stood was actually covered by water!



 Trying to move a boulder, an unsuccessful yet valiant group effort!
