Highlights: April 16 - 27th

What an incredible two weeks we have had!! We learned all about Mexico and Columbia with wonderful parent presentations by Mrs. Heskia and Mrs. Romero. We were fortunate to taste foods from Mexico, Chile, and Colombia at our amazing Fiesta with Mrs. Brennan's class. Huge thanks to Mrs. Williams, Mrs. Mora, and Mrs. Romero for all the delicious food! Many thanks also to Mrs. Bailey and Mrs. Carpenter for sending in items to help with the fiesta.  We listened to traditional music and enjoyed celebrating the countries we have been learning about.  The students put great effort into their International Night projects and displays. It was great to see their creativity, initiative and team work in action.

We have launched into our first Project Lead the Way (PLTW) unit with Ms. Danziger.  The students will be learning all about "States of Matter" through a PLTW Ice Pop Challenge.  The students have learned what matter is (anything that has mass and takes up space) and the difference between solids, liquids, and gases. Students also learned how molecules move in the different states of matter and simulated these movements as a class. This week the students sorted objects by  properties of matter such as color, texture, hardness and flexibility.  We are also using an app called See Saw to document our learning.  Ms. Danziger's Twitter page has more info and photos if you'd like to take a look! https://twitter.com/MsD_4_STEAM

Other recent highlights have been observing our class caterpillars move through the life cycle from baby caterpillars to chrysalises and playing "Memory" with our spelling words.  The students will have a week off from their spelling homework & test this coming week (April 30 - May 4th).
