Science, Spelling, Math and the Great Outdoors

We jumped into Science this week by learning about the "I Wonder" circle (see below).  We did a simple experiment with crayons and wet paper. Ask your child to tell you more about it.  We then discussed our year long unit on Life Cycles, made connections with other words with "cycle" in them, and listed examples of cycles in everyday life. We observed the lovely dogwood tree outside and recorded our observations. We will monitor the changes in this tree over the seasons of fall, winter and spring.

In Spelling we practiced word sorts. We will practice again next week and begin our homework routine next Friday. (More on that at Curriculum Night)

In Math we learned a new game called "Number Line Squeeze".  This is a simple game that can be made and played at home.

We had a wonderful second grade trip to the Arb on Wednesday!
