Writing about Trees

This week each child began a story choosing one of the following prompts:

Each student then created a brain frame to plan out his or her writing piece.  The brain frame acts as a map to aid the students in the writing process.  The brain frame can be edited before actual writing begins, if needed.  Editing after an entire story has been written can be a more daunting task than editing your plan (brain frame) before beginning to write.

Several children wrote about the beautiful Honey Locust Tree right outside our classroom window, which has beautiful yellow leaves falling as we speak!

Speaking of nature, for those of you who don't know our friendly hawk that frequents the Angell playground, many of us got a very close peak on Wednesday at morning recess.  We are lucky to be surrounded by so much beauty here in Ann Arbor!
