What a wonderful week and a wonderful group of second graders we have! We spent the early part of this week getting to know one another through partner interviews, getting to know the classroom and our surroundings, and learning many procedures and routines! We have three students new to Angell and it's been wonderful to see the returning students help those children to get settled in and feel welcomed. We wrote stories about summer vacation, began our year long Social Studies exploration on communities, and started our first math lessons with our Everyday Math program. On Friday we met our fourth grade Reading Buddies from Ms. Lee's class. The photos I include on the blog are intended to give you a little peek inside our days, and spark more conversations between you and your child about their days at Angell School. I encourage you to use the comment section to make this more interactive by asking questions, leaving feedback, or sharing how our lessons at school are being applied or extended at home. Of course, if you feel more comfortable doing this privately, or you have a specific concern regarding your child, you are always free to email me directly.
I also wanted to thank you for the warm welcome you have given me as I return back to classroom teaching, and for all the positive feedback regarding the healthy snack policy. It's been so wonderful to see all the healthy fruits and vegetables being eaten in class, and you wouldn't believe how excited the children are about telling each other what they are eating!
